Xiaomi has introduced their all-new flagship last month, the Xiaomi Mi 5. This is a long-awaited smartphone which is a direct successor to the Mi 4 which was announced back in July 2014. That being said, Xiaomi did release a flagship device in 2015, but it was their Mi Note Pro phablet which was launched back in January last year, and it was announced next to the regular Mi Note handset.
That being said, we were wondering when will Xiaomi launch Mi Note and Mi Note Pro’s successors, and if that will happen at all. Well, according to the latest leak, Xiaomi is definitely planning to do so, and even some specifications leaked. Now, according to this info, the Mi Note 2 will actually come in a number of different variants. The company will, reportedly, release both the Snapdragon 820 and 823-powered Mi Note 2 handsets, and both the 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM models will be available to consumers. The most affordable variant of the Mi Note 2 will ship with 32GB of internal storage, while the 256GB variant will be available as well according to the leak. All of MI Note 2 devices will, allegedly, feature 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) displays, just like the Mi Note Pro did, and a 3,600mAh battery will be available on the inside, while the 18W Quick Charging will also be a part of the package. The 16-megapixel OIS camera (Sony’s IMX295 sensor) has also been mentioned here, while a 5-megapixel snapper is expected to be available up front. The device will be made out of metal, and according to the available info, the pricing will start at around 2,999 Yuan ($460).
Now, you might be wondering where did the Snapdragon 823 come from. Well, this is not the first time we hear about this SoC, a China-based analyst, Pan Jiutang, did mention it a while back, and it will reportedly offer a higher clock speed than the Snapdragon 820, but will sport the same baseband. So, this will, essentially, be a 64-bit quad-core processor, just like its sibling. That is pretty much it, stay tuned for more info, we’ll let you know as soon as something pops up.
