Xiaomi has introduced the company’s all-new flagship during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, the Mi 5. This announcement took place last month, and the device is already available in China, where it is selling like crazy through flash sales. The company has already confirmed that the Mi 5 will be introduced in India as well in April, but it seems like the announcement might happen a bit earlier, read on.
India-based tech sites have started receiving invitations to Xiaomi’s Mi 5 launch event which is scheduled for March 31st, which essentially means that Xiaomi will announce their flagship in India this month, not April. If you take a look at the image above, you’ll get to see the invite itself, it contains a huge number ‘5’ on it, which confirms that the Mi 5 is the main attraction of that event. The press conference will kick off at 2:30 PM (local time), and the invite itself contains the ‘All you ever imagined, and more’ caption as well.
Xiaomi has introduced two variants fo their Mi 5 flagship, the standard Mi 5 ships with 3GB of RAM and either 32GB of 64GB of internal storage, while the premium Mi 5 Pro model comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. The Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro share the rest of the specs, the two devices ship with a 5.15-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and are powered by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel 4-axis OIS camera is placed on the back of the Mi 5 (Pro), while there is a 4-megapixel shooter (2um pixel size) placed up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Mi 5, and on top of it, you’ll find Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS. There are two SIM card slots available here, and the 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package.
We do know that the Mi 5 will be introduced on March 31st in India, though we still don’t know how much the phone will cost. The Mi 5 Pro will quite probably also going to be announced alongside the Mi 5, and there’s a chance these two phones might go on sale at the same time. We’ll know more when Xiaomi introduces the Mi 5 in India, so stay tuned for that.
