Acer is a well-known brand here in the U.S., and although many of their smartphones never make it to the U.S. market they manufacture the largest number of Chromebooks, most of which are available to U.S. consumers. They also manufacture tablets and just recently announced a new Iconia 10 tablet last Thursday. Today Acer held it’s next@acer event in New York where they have been announcing and showing off new hardware, and among the unveilings is a brand new smartphone called the Acer Liquid Zest Plus, which Acer is using to target the mid-range device market for less than $250 out of pocket.
Although it’s likely to capture the attention of some consumers because of its affordable cost, the Liquid Zest Plus is most notable because of the battery that Acer has put inside of the phone. The Liquid Zest Plus will feature a massive, quick charging 5000mAh battery inside which, while not the largest of any smartphone battery out there, it is more than most smartphones carry and especially when comparing it to smartphones from larger brands. Beyond the large battery, the Liquid Zest Plus will also come equipped with a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13MP rear-facing camera with laser autofocus, and a 5MP front-facing camera which sports a wide angle lens for better selfie shots.
There aren’t too many other details known about the Liquid Zest Plus yet, as Acer didn’t seem to mention the processor, RAM, storage, or other particular specifications. There’s also no information currently about the availability of the device which means no release date and no details about which regions will see the phone. The Liquid Zest Plus was not the only device unveiled this morning at Acer’s event, as they have also announced a new ruggedized Chromebook that is meant for enterprise users on the Chrome for Work program. This is a new model of the soon-to-be-available Chromebook 14 that Acer announced last month. There is still no pricing that’s been detailed about this new enterprise-focused model, but that information shouldn’t be too long out as Acer likely wants to get enterprise customers on board with the unit as quickly as possible, and that won’t happen without knowing the cost.
