Nexus smartphone and tablet rumors are always a bit good speculative fun, and although there hasn’t been much in the rumor mill in recent weeks about a new Nexus tablet being in the works, the latest in the Nexus category points towards two more Nexus smartphones for this year, both being rumored to be manufactured by HTC. Google is no stranger to re-using brands that have made Nexus devices before, and although HTC hasn’t made a Nexus smartphone since the Nexus One, they’ve been making devices for quite some time and have two Nexus devices under their belt at this point. The newest rumors surrounding an HTC Nexus smartphone point towards two devices, with model numbers rumored to be M1 and S1, and internal codenames of Marlin and Sailfish.
On that note, fish names have always been the internal codenames for Google’s Nexus devices, and another rumor from this week appeared to show a leaked screenshot of a benchmark score from Geekbench on an unreleased Google Nexus 6P, suggesting that the 6P will be coming back for another round this year as a second generation for the model. According to the geekbench listing the device is running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 CPU and it comes with 4GB of RAM, and perhaps unsurprisingly it was listed as running on Android N which is going to be the next version of Android beyond Marshmallow. At this point there isn’t much else known about either the M1 or the S1 Nexus devices, should they even be in existence, but the question is, if HTC was to be making the next Nexus smartphone or smartphones, would you purchase either one?
