It is no secret that the new LG G5 is turning heads since its announcement last month as eager Canadians wait to get their hands on one. The LG G5 will be available in Canada on April 8, although it is up for pre-order now with the Big Three – Bell, Telus, Rogers – not to mention MTS, SaskTel, EastLink, Videotron and Wind Mobile. In anticipation for the Canadian launch, the advertising machine has been set in motion with Toronto Raptors’ star Cory Joseph. Eunice Lee, Brand Manager – Mobile Communications at LG Electronics Canada said, “Cory Joseph is a Canadian success story. As a high performance athlete, we thought Cory would be the ideal ambassador for such a high performance smartphone. Just like in basketball, having the competitive edge comes down to teamwork and we believe the LG G5 smartphone, plus the companion devices, empower consumers to outperform in work and in everyday life.”
The LG G5 is the company’s first modular smartphone that can accept a range of companion devices that slide into the bottom of the device to help increase its usefulness. One of the modules adds capacity to the battery and at the same time transforms the LG G5 into a point-and-shot digital camera – complete with a camera-like grip and controls. The LG G5 is the only smartphone that comes with an extremely wide-angle lens that gives the user the ability to shot normal or wide angle on the same device. The DSLR-like manual mode and the new software give the user a lot of flexibility when shooting pictures. Another module from Bang & Olufsen (B&O) gives the user Hi-Fi like sound quality with whatever 16-bit or 32-bit sound they are listening too, but through the headphone jack, the sound is amazing. Many more modules are promised in the near future, and because you can remove the battery, a new battery can be inserted whenever you need one.
The LG G5 features an all-metal aluminum body, dual-cameras, expandable memory, quick charge capability, a QHD display, the newest Snapdragon 820, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory. Like Cory Joseph says, “It’s impossible to use the LG G5 without being impressed. It’s the smartest smartphone I’ve ever used and it’s really something I can get behind. The companion devices blew my mind and once you’ve experienced the back-up battery switch out – you’ll never go back. It’s a game changer.” As part of Joseph being an LG G5 ambassador, he will appear in ads and participate in social media integrations and personal appearances.
