Android N has been out in the developer preview form for more than a month now bringing with it a lot of interesting new things to look forward to in the new software once Google pushes it out to the public. In the meantime, Google has just recently released the second developer preview for Android N and included in the build were a new set of emojis which many users no doubt would like to have on their device right now instead of waiting for the Android N software to hit their phones. If you use emojis often and you enjoy spicing up your conversations with them, it’s possible to get the emojis onto your device through the use of a flashable zip file.
As these new emoji are based on the Unicode 9.0 standard, you can likely expect to be the only person who has them installed on their device out of people you know personally. To flash the zip file with the new Android N emoji set you will have to have a custom recovery installed on your device, and you’ll want to first do a nandroid backup of your device before starting the flashing process so you can go back to an old software build if ever needed. Aside from having a custom recovery installed on the phone, you will also need to have at least Android 5.0 Lollipop or the emojis will not be compatible.
Having said all of that, it’s been said that the new emoji flashable zip will not work with most Samsung devices, so if you use a Samsung device and you want to try flashing the zip file anyways, you’re more than welcome to do so but be aware that the emojis may not work. If you’re ready to go through with the process, all you have to do is boot your phone into its recovery mode and just like you might flash any ROM firmware to your device, you’ll want to navigate to the zip file location and flash it to the phone for an installation. The process shouldn’t take too long and afterward, you can boot your phone back up and you should have the new emoji from Android N developer preview 2.
