The latest listing on the popular unified cross-platform benchmark database GFXBench has revealed a mysterious device codenamed Xiaomi Land. From the looks of it, this could likely be an upcoming addition to the Xiaomi Redmi 3 lineup. More specifically, the listed specifications of the device suggest that we got a first look at the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 3A, a successor to the last year’s super affordable Redmi 2A and a slightly redesigned version of the recently released Xiaomi Redmi 3.
The picture which you can see by following the link below reveals that the new Xiaomi smartphone boasts a 5-inch, 1280 x 720 pixels large screen and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor whose cores have an operating frequency of up to 1.4 GHz. The said system on chip is also packed with an Adreno 505 GPU. Other than that, the device supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 and features an integrated X8 LTE modem with LTE Cat 7 support. It’s also packed with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The benchmarked version of Xiaomi Land is running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Unfortunately, the testing software did not benchmark the device’s camera specs. It’s worth noting that GFXBench is not a completely flawless benchmark, but most of its documented issues usually relate to screen size and the software’s inability to accurately determine the thereof on some older smartphones. So, in this particular instance, it’s not unreasonable to presume that all of the listed specs are correct.
All in all, the specs listed above more or less correspond to a future Xiaomi Redmi 3A. Given how its predecessor, Xiaomi Redmi 2A launched in June of last year, exactly five months after the release of the Redmi 2 model, and considering that Xiaomi Redmi 3 was released in January, it’s to be expected that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will continue following the same pattern. In other words, we’re expecting that the Redmi 3A will launch in the next five weeks or so, priced at around 90 bucks (599 yuan) or less. Needless to say, a cheap and solid device such as this one will probably sell quite well in China, additionally reinforcing Xiaomi’s position of one of the leading budget phone manufacturers in the world.
