Back in early December of 2015, Google updated its Calendar apps for Android and iOS with a very specific and useful feature, the ability to include ‘reminders’. While this was a feature which was designed to be a cross-platform feature and offer an easier way for Google apps users to make sure they never miss an event, deadline or otherwise, it was one which missed one particular platform support, the web.
However, that seems to have now been remedied as Google has today confirmed that Google Calendar on the web will be updated to support the reminders feature. As a result, if you are someone who often uses the web version of Google Calendar, then the latest updated support will allow you to now properly create and manage Calendar entries. Ones which once created will then be visible across all your devices and platforms. So if you create a reminder on the web, it will be visible and manageable from the mobile app and vice versa.
It is also worth keeping in mind that as well as cross-platform support, this is a feature which is across-app supported. So apps like Google Now, Keep and Inbox will also be aware of the Calendar entrants and vice versa. So you really will be fully ‘in the know’ when it comes to any created reminders on any device and through many of the Google apps and services. It is also worth knowing that reminders do not delete until they have been fully completed. So, if for whatever reason you don’t get around to finishing the reminded action/event, it will not delete at the end of the scheduled date and instead will remain at the top of your Calendar until you manually mark it as ‘done’. In terms of the actual availability of the feature on the web. It is not entirely clear when you can expect the feature to go live, as it does not seem to be live at the moment. Although, everyone is expected to be able to make use of the feature within the next couple of weeks.
