Google+ has changed quite a bit over the years since its release, and while the most recent updates to both the web portal, as well as the Android app was not too long ago, both versions of the social service from Google have been updated as of April 20th and April 22nd bringing in the usual bug fixes and improvements as well as some feature changes. Back in the beginning of February, Google introduced a handy new feature to the web portal version of Google+ that allowed users to be alerted to new posts in real-time. This update won’t introduce anything on that scale, but the adjustments are still a good thing and should help to better the experience for Google Plus users.
For users of Google+ on the web, Google has introduced more stability to the service with a total of 152 different bug fixes, and although Google hasn’t detailed what every single one of those bug fixes are they’re sure to improve the user experience especially if plenty of users were coming into contact with them. Google+ on the web has also gotten plenty of fixes for accessibility issues that were plaguing some users, and there is now a way to more easily follow people. All users will have to do now when browsing through the Google+ feed on the web is hover over the image of a user to reveal a small handful of options which includes the ability to follow them as well as see a few more brief details about the user such as their tagline, how many users they have, and if you have any followers in common with them.
When it comes to the Android app version of Google+ there have only been 19 bugs fixed which probably suggests there were less things that needed fixing on this end. Google has also included fixes for 7 accessibility issues on the Android app, and the small round info icon on a person’s profile page will now show as “About” text instead which should more clearly display what tapping it will provide. The edit and create collection features have also been updated with a slightly altered interface, and overall, page loads for Google+ should feel faster and smoother than before.
