Hands On With Huawei's TalkBand B3 Wearable

At this morning’s event in London, Huawei announced a pair of smartphones that feature two 12-megapixel cameras on its back side, but it also unveiled a new wearable in the TalkBand B3. This new TalkBand comes in three cores, Active, Classic and Elite. Which are available with silicon straps, leather and metal, respectively. They are great looking wearables from Huawei, and the natural evolution from the TalkBand B2, which debuted last year. The TalkBand B3 is slated to hit Europe later this month, alongside the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus.

The TalkBand B3 is more than just a fitness tracker. As the name hints at, it also is a Bluetooth earpiece. So you can pop out the screen and put it in your ear to take calls and such. Making it a pretty cool piece of kit from Huawei. The TalkBand B3 continues to support Jawbone’s fitness system, so you can use the Jawbone app to keep up your steps, calories burned and so forth. Definitely a nice feature to have here. The TalkBand B3 also has support for notifications on your wrist, so you can see what exactly is coming in, without having to pull out your phone. This isn’t meant to take the place of their own Huawei Watch which runs on Android Wear and is a much more elegant smartwatch, but to compliment it. Huawei is going to continue using both for various markets and niches.

Huawei will be bringing the TalkBand B3 later this month with a starting price of €199 in Europe. It may or may not make it into the US, at this time it’s unknown if it’ll leave Europe or the Middle East and Asia. It’s likely going to stick around on that side of the world, as is usual with Huawei’s products these days. Huawei also announced the P9 and P9 Plus at the event in London today, both of which are their new flagship smartphones that aren’t huge. The Huawei P9 is a 5.2-inch smartphone with the Huawei P9 Plus being a 5.5-incher. Both of which are available on April 16th in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
