Yesterday, we told you that the new HTC 10 would be coming to Canada later as an exclusive device on the Bell network. Today we learned a little more from our source that got their hands on some more in-house documents that shed some more light on the HTC 10. First off, we can tell you that Bell will start selling the device on Thursday, April 29, and though no pricing was announced, HTC is selling it as unlocked on its website for $999, but if you use the promo code of HTCCA1008, you will get $100 knocked off that price. We have to assume that Bell will be asking the same amount – possibly a $399 on a two-year term – but we should hear the pricing announced soon. They may even run some promos to entice subscribers to make the move to the HTC 10.
Another thing we learned from the documents to that Bell’s exclusivity runs out on July 1, so if you are on another network, it is possible that you will have your chance to buy the HTC 10 on a two-year plan and save yourself some money from buying it outright. There is no indication that any other carrier is interested in carrying the device, but that may change over the next month or so as July 1 draws nearer. The exclusive contract will Bell is not what HTC needs at this time – they need a hit on their hands and they need to get that hit device in as many customer’s hands that they can…only having Bell sell it in Canada will not accomplish that task. We hope that come July 1, other Canadian carriers are willing to sell the HTC 10 – it looks like a terrific smartphone and deserves the exposure.
This HTC 10 comes with all of the right stuff this time around – for the first time they used a QHD display with 565 pixels-per-inch (PPI), although its 5.2-inch size may be a little small for some, it is the preferred size for an everyday driver. The processor is the newest Snapdragon 820 and an Adreno 530 GPU handles the graphics. It packs 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal storage that is expandable to 2TB. The 12MP UltraPixel camera tied for the highest score with the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 Edge and the 5MP front-facing camera (FFC) also uses OIS and has a display flash for selfies and video chatting. Its 3,000 mAh battery is non-removable, but can take advantage of Quick Charge 3.0. The HTC 10 looks like an exciting device.
