LG G5 Gets Developer Friendly with TWRP Recovery

The LG G5 has been out for a few weeks now, and everyone has an opinion about it. Some like the device, some think it’s a bit ahead of its time, and some just hate how the phone looks. Nevertheless, it is a flagship with the best available specs. Including the Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm and 4GB of RAM. The T-Mobile and International versions of the LG G5 have been a breeze to unlock the bootloader. In fact, LG left it easy enough to unlock that it can be treated like a Nexus. Which is a developers dream, as well as a tinkerers dream. This makes it much easier to unlock the bootloader and flash things like custom ROMs, kernels and much more. This is going to open up the LG G5 and make it a pretty fun device to own.

For many that don’t unlock the bootloader, or even bother flashing custom ROMs, this news isn’t going to affect them. But TWRP or TeamWin Recovery Project is now available for the LG G5. To be clear, it’s only available for the T-Mobile and International variants of the LG G5 at this time. We may see it come to other variants in the near future. But with the bootloaders locked on those other variants, it may not come. TWRP allows you to do all sorts of things, including backing up your device – doing a Nandroid backup, will backup everything. This includes apps, app data, accounts, contacts and everything. Restoring a backup means you won’t need to re-login to anything at all. Which is definitely nice and convenient. TWRP also allows you to flash some custom ROMs which can really make the LG G5 even more impressive.

Those that may want to flash TWRP onto their LG G5 can head to the source link that is down below and get your flashing on. If you don’t know what TWRP is, or why you would want it on your device, then we suggest going out and doing some homework before flashing it onto your smartphone. Especially if you’re under contract or EIP (meaning you don’t actually own that device yet).
