MediaTek is currently one of the largest mobile processor manufacturers in the world. This Taiwan company has introduced a number of SoCs thus far, and even though they kicked things off by manufacturing only entry-level processors, MediaTek has improved quite a bit in the last couple of years. Last year their Helio X10 64-bit octa-core chip was widely used by tons of smartphone manufacturers, and the MT6735 64-bit quad-core and MT6753 64-bit octa-core processors were amongst the most used chips when China-based smartphone manufacturing companies are concerned.
That being said, MediaTek has introduced their all-new flagship a while back, the Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor, which sports a new Tri-Cluster architecture. First Helio X20-powered devices are rolling out to the market this month, and quite a few companies already announced that they’ll use MediaTek’s latest and greatest chip. That being said, MediaTek has partnered up with OptoFidelity, a company which tests user interactions and touch technology for various devices in Europe, China and the US. The two companies basically partnered up with one goal, to test user interaction with Helio X20-powered devices in order to improve Helio X20, and future MediaTek-branded processors. The two companies did not release all that much info thus far, though they did talk about their partnership during MediaTek’s recent Helio X20 event in Asia.
As already mentioned, various smartphone manufacturers already announced they’ll the company’s Helio X20 SoC, like Zopo and Ulefone for example, while Meizu confirmed that they’ll have exclusive rights to the recently announced Helio X25 64-bit deca-core processor. This chip is very similar to the Helio X20 in basically every way, think of it as an improved variant of the Helio X20, its performance is boosted, which makes it more powerful overall. That’s more or less it, it will be interesting to see how will Helio X20 perform once first reviews start coming out, but judging by what we’ve seen thus far, the Helio X20 is a very capable processor and will surely manage to hold its ground out in the market, even though the competition is fierce.
