Pokemon GO is poised to be one of the biggest games on mobile devices when it launches, not just because of the fact that it’s being developed by Niantic, the company behind the wildly popular mobile game Ingress, but also because, and perhaps more due to the fact that Pokemon itself has an insanely massive following. Although screenshots and some footage of the Pokemon GO have been shown off before, initially being shown at South by Southwest last month and then later on in official screenshots that were sent out by Niantic, a new leaked video has shown up on YouTube which details and shows off a whole eight minutes of gameplay footage from the Pokemon GO Beta that only a small number of users have been able to participate in, including users in both New Zealand and Australia that were added into the fold as of the beginning of this month.
Short of being exciting to see some of what the game will actually look like when users begin to play, the video also opens up details about the game which weren’t previously known, although it’s possible that features or gameplay could change before the final release of the game since this is just a beta and Niantic could alter anything before a full public launch.
When opening up the game users will be greeted to sounds and message to “stay alert at all times and be aware of your surroundings,” giving the game a true feel of what it will be like to be a Pokemon master. Users will be able to begin the game by choosing their style of character, which boils down to choosing a male or female avatar to kick things off. After the character type is selected, users can then proceed to style and customize their character for a little of personalization including hair styles, hair color, face type, eye color, and clothing details like pants, shirt, hats, and backpack. Since this is a location-based game, users will see their character travel on the in-game map as they travel around in the real world. There’s plenty to see in the gameplay video so if you can’t wait to catch a few details before the game releases, check it out.
