Xiaomi has already introduced a couple of devices this year, including their Mi 5 flagship which was introduced back in February. That being said, Xiaomi is getting ready to launch some new hardware and software in the coming weeks. Yesterday was a rather interesting day for Xiaomi fans, the company’s CEO has shared first images of the Xiaomi Max and Mi Band 2, and the company has announced that both of those devices, and also the MIUI 8 OS will be announced on May 10th in China.
Xiaomi Max has definitely been one of the most leaked devices lately, the phone’s front panel surfaced recently, and we’ve also seen a number spec leaks when it comes to this device, not to mention that it was benchmarked as well. Now, according to a new info from China, the Xiaomi Max will actually ship in two variants, and one of them will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor. According to the info, the device will be made out of metal, and it will sport a fingerprint scanner, quite probably Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic Fingerprint scanner. Now, the pressure sensitive display is also rumored, but nothing has been confirmed just yet. The source also says that the standard variant of the device might be called ‘Xiaomi Max’, and the higher-end Snapdragon 820-powered model might be referred to as ‘Xiaomi Big’. Truth be told, the naming of the higher-end model sounds a bit off, but we’ll see what happens in the end.
Now, if the higher-end variant of this phablet is going to rock the Snapdragon 820, then the standard variant will probably ship out with the Snapdragon 650, as GFXBench listing suggested. If that’s the case, then we can also expect the standard variant to sport 2GB of RAM, a 6.4-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, and 16GB of RAM. The phone will also ship with a 16-megapixel rear-facing, and 5-megapixel front-facing camera sensors, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed here with the company’s MIUI 8 OS available on top of it. That is more or less it for now, we’ll let you know if any new info pops up, stay tuned.
