Samsung’s much-anticipated 360-degree camera, the Gear 360, has now been listed online by B&H Photo Video, giving us our first look at its pricing. According to device’s product page on the aforementioned retailer’s website, the Samsung Gear 360 will be available for purchase at $349.99, although it’s currently listed as ‘Out of Stock’. The device was originally announced by the South Korean consumer electronics giant alongside the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show held earlier this year in Barcelona, Spain. The device comes with a couple of 195-degree cameras that account for the panoramic, high-res 360-degree photos and videos, and is compatible with Samsung’s premium smartphones from the past couple of years, such as the company’s Galaxy S6 line, the Galaxy Note 5 and the two Galaxy S7 handsets that were announced earlier this year at the MWC.
Taking a look at some of the hardware that comes with the Gear 360 camera, the device boasts dual 15-megapixel CMOS sensors along with dual f/2.0 Fisheye Lenses. 30 fps Video on the Gear 360 can be recorded at a resolution of 3840 x 1920, which is not quite the standard 4K resolution, which is generally accepted to be 3840 x 2160 pixels. Pictures can be clicked at 30-megapixel resolution in dual lens mode, although users will be able to select single lens mode if they so desire. The camera comes with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & NFC, and supports microSD cards of up to 128 GB in capacity. The Gear 360 is also Google Street View compatible.
Of course, the Gear 360 is not the only 360-degree camera in town right now. The device will be competing in an increasingly-crowded market with products from quite a few established consumer technology companies as well as some brand new tech startups. One of those established companies who recently launched its own offering in the segment happens to be Samsung’s country-mate, LG Electronics. Much like Samsung, LG too, had announced its offering in the segment at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona this past February. Called the LG 360 Cam, the device went on pre-order at B&H Photo Video late last month at a price of $199, which is significantly lower than what Samsung seems to be charging for its latest offering.
