Snapchat is a bit of a weird social network to say the least. It consists of you sending photos and videos that can be both shared privately or publicly and they expire within 24 hours. Snapchat has long had a way for you to add stickers and write on the video and pictures in which you are sharing. But today the company is announcing an update to the stickers. They can now “move” in your video. Basically what you are doing here is attaching a sticker to an object, like a face. So now wherever that object moves within the video, that sticker will move along with it. It’s not a huge update, really, but it sure is going to be a whole lot of fun.
The bigger news with this update is that it is rolling out to Android first. That’s right, us Android users will get the ability to attach stickers to objects in our videos on Snapchat before our iOS brothers. That’s something you don’t see very often, even with updates. Snapchat states that the iOS version will get the functionality “very shortly”. It’s unclear if that means in the next few days or weeks. It could also be that there are more bugs in the iOS version to be worked out, given the different platform limitations.
Snapchat is actually a pretty large social network these days. Now it’s nowhere the size of Facebook or even Twitter. But it’s still quite large. Plenty of companies have been joining Snapchat as of late to help promote their business. We’ve also seen a number of publications join and have daily Snapchat stories that are in the discover section, so you can keep up with the news without leaving the Snapchat app. Obviously something that Snapchat wants, users to spend more time within the application. Snapchat is available on the Google Play Store, if you haven’t already installed it on your smartphone. Also, you should make sure to follow Android Headlines (username is ‘androidheadline’) on Snapchat so you can keep up to date with everything Android. We’ll definitely be playing around with these new stickers.
