Xiaomi Max Will Launch On May 10th, Mi Band 2 Might As Well

Xiaomi and Huawei are China’s largest smartphone manufacturers at the moment. Both of these companies have already released devices this year, and one of the released devices is Xiaomi’s all-new flagship, the Mi 5. That being said, Xiaomi is planning to push out some new hardware soon. The Xiaomi Max phablet has been leaking like crazy in the last week or so, and Xiaomi has confirmed that it’s coming soon. The company’s CEO, Lei Jun, has also shared the Mi Band 2 image earlier today, and now we have some new official info to share with you, read on.

The company’s CEO has not only leaked the all-new Mi Band 2 fitness tracker, but has also revealed the release date for both the Xiaomi Max and the Mi Band 2. Lei Jun has revealed this info during a live broadcast via the Mi Live application. According to the company’s CEO, Xiaomi will host a press event on May 10th during which they intend to introduce the Xiaomi Max phablet. Now, Lei Jun did not exactly confirm that the Mi Band 2 will be introduced during said event as well, but considering he showed off the device during the live broadcast, we assume that Xiaomi plans to release that device as well. Now, Lei Jun’s information was backed by Xiaomi’s official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, where May 10th was also confirmed as the Xiaomi Max release date.

We basically know what will the company’s upcoming phablet look like at this point, but what specifications will it offer? Well, various information surfaced, on one hand, rumors have been saying that this will be a high-end phablet and that it will sport a QHD display and a Snapdragon 820 SoC. On the other hand, GFXBench listing reported that the Snapdragon 650 will be fueling this phablet, and that it will sport only 2GB of RAM. Believe it or not, a third rumor surfaced reporting that Xiaomi plans to utilize their very own ‘Rifle’ SoC here, which sounds a bit far-fetched, but you never know. One thing is for sure, Xiaomi Max will be a huge device, and if rumors are to be trusted, the device will ship with a 6.4-inch display.
