Xiaomi Mi 5 Dual Camera & Metal Edition Smartphones Rumored

Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the flagship devices announced back in February during the Mobile World Congress. Despite the fact it was announced next to the Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge and the LG G5 at MWC, Xiaomi Mi 5 managed to attract a lot of attention to itself. Consumers have been waiting for a year and a half for Xiaomi to introduce their all-new flagship, and the device is now available for purchase in China and India only, but we do expect it to become available elsewhere in the near future.

That being said, Xiaomi will introduce their all-new Xiaomi Max phablet on May 20th, and alongside it the company will announce MIUI 8 OS, and quite possibly the Mi Band 2 fitness tracker. Well, the Xiaomi Max is not the only handset Xiaomi plans to introduce in the coming months, at least not according to a new rumor. According to the newly-surfaced info, Xiaomi actually plans to introduce more versions of their Mi 5 flagship (aside from new color options they’ve announced recently), and one of those variants will ship with two camera sensors on the back, at least according to the provided info. The release date has not been mentioned, but if this is true, the dual camera Mi 5 would be the first Xiaomi-branded smartphone to sport two camera sensors on the back. Now, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Metal Edition has also been mentioned in rumors, and this variant of the phone would sport an all-metal build, without the glass / ceramic back. This essentially means that you’d be able to choose between three variants of the Mi 5, though all three would sport identical internals we presume, aside from the difference in camera sensors on the Mi 5 Dual Camera variant.

Keep in mind this is only a rumor at this point, so take this info with a grain of salt, as usual. Xiaomi has recently introduced the Gold variant of the Mi 5, and even though this rumor sounds interesting, we’re not that sure Xiaomi is planning to release such Mi 5 variants. All we can do at this point is sit and wait for more info to surface, stay tuned.
