The Computex 2016 is currently ongoing in Taiwan. Quite a few smartphone manufacturing companies are currently showcasing their products at the tradeshow, and Acer is one of them. The company has announced a range of products at Computex, including the Android-powered Liquid Zest Plus smartphone. This device was originally introduced back in April, but Acer did not show off the device’s design, nor did it share a lot of its specifications back then. The company has introduced us with the Liquid Zest Plus properly this time around, and they’ve also announced a new projector which we’re here to talk about.
The Acer V9800 is the company’s all-new 4K Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) projector. This device will be able to project video in 4K resolution (3840 x 2160), and Acer says that the colors will be spot on as well. The device is fueled by the TI 4K DMD processor, and the device delivers more than 8 million pixels our way, which is four times more than 1080p projectors. The Acer V9800 also has a super-resolution video engine built-in, which lets it upscale and enhance lower resolution content. This projector follows the Rec 709 protocol which lets it to reproduce the original colors and tones in order to give you ‘an authentic movie-watching experience’. The Acer V9800 also comes with the industry-standard sRGB mode in order to provide high-quality contrast. Acer has also talked more about the ColorPurity technology they’ve deployed here as well, which essentially combines RGBRGB color wheel with unique lamp control techniques. This technology is supposed to provide pure (well, enhanced) red, green and blue colors.
The projector itself looks really nice, though the design isn’t groundbreaking or anything of the sort. The company still didn’t share exact specs of this projector, nor its pricing and availability info. Acer said that they’ll share more info in the following months, and the projector is expected to become available in January 2017 in a number of regions. We do know that the device will be available in the U.S., but do not have any additional availability information at the moment, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
