Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant has become a pretty important feature for Amazon in the last few months. Adding all sorts of new features to Alexa. Including the ability to order pizza from Domino’s, order you an Uber and so much more, on top of plenty of home automation features already included with Alexa. But there was one feature that was missing, and it was a bit surprising. Alexa couldn’t track your Amazon packages. It’s surprising because Amazon made Alexa, so you would expect that feature to be included. But it’s here as of today. So it’s better late than never.
Starting today, you’ll be able to say “Alexa, where’s my stuff” and the voice assistant will look up your orders on Amazon and find the tracking information to let you know where exactly your package(s) are. Now this is a great feature, and one that will likely be used quite a bit. However, it’s important to point out here that Alexa is only tracking your Amazon packages. So it’s only getting the information from your Amazon account, which it already has access too. Whereas Google Now scans your email for tracking numbers and pulls them into Google Now for you to keep up with everything you’ve ordered and the tracking numbers that go with them. So it’s a little less creepy, but it’ll still come in handy quite often.
Alexa is available on a slew of devices now. Amazon first debuted Alexa on the Amazon Echo, which remains their flagship voice assistant product. They have since announced the Echo Dot and Amazon Tap, which are a bit cheaper, but still include Alexa as their voice assistant. There are also a few devices that Amazon hasn’t made, that have Alexa built-in. Alexa has continued to get better and better, and has gotten more and more features included. Which makes getting an Amazon Echo even more exciting. If you use Belkin WeMo or Philips HUE for your smart home, you can actually control a lot of your appliances and such with your voice using the Amazon Echo, Amazon Tap or Echo Dot.
