The HTC Desire lineup started off as the company’s flagship series more than 5 years ago. It was eventually replaced by another high-end lineup known by the “HTC Sensation” moniker, which, in turn, was succeeded by the HTC One X and the “One” series. Today the HTC Desire brand accommodates the company’s mid-range terminals, and since the beginning of the year, the Taiwanese smartphone maker took the veil off a handful of Desire smartphones, including the HTC Desire 530, the Desire 630, and the HTC Desire 825. Now, according to a series of leaks and rumors, HTC is preparing for the release of a new terminal called the HTC Desire 830. The handset was spotted in a series of leaked photos last month, and now the smartphone’s alleged release date and price have reportedly been uncovered.
According to a new report from French tech blog NoWhereElse, the HTC Desire 830 has now been quietly, yet officially announced. Judging by the new data, the smartphone will be released in China starting tomorrow, May 6, and will cost somewhere around €269 without taxes. No other details regarding the smartphone’s availability have been revealed, so when, or whether or not the HTC Desire 830 will be launched in the Western hemisphere remains unknown.
As for what the smartphone is capable of, spec-wise the HTC Desire 830 will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and will be powered by an 8-core MediaTek Helio X10 chipset operating at frequencies of up to 1.5 GHz per core. The terminal will also conceal 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage expandable via microSD, while photography enthusiasts will rely on a 13-megapixel main camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and an f/2.0 aperture, as well as an UltraPixel front-facing sensor with the same f/2.0 aperture. Unlike the brand new HTC 10 flagship, the HTC Desire 830 seems to retain the old HTC BoomSound formula and accommodates two stereo front-facing speakers. All the components rely on a 2,800 mAh battery and are reportedly wrapped in a body weighing 156 grams and measuring 157.5 x 78.9 x 7.79 mm. Last but certainly not least, the HTC Desire 830 will apparently run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and unsurprisingly, the operating system will be partly covered by HTC’s proprietary “Sense” user interface.
