Taiwanese tech company, HTC, has launched a couple of new mid-range smartphones in India. While one of the devices is the dual-SIM version of the One X9 handset that was shown off earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the other one happens to be the Desire 825, which is one of the latest offerings from the company’s Desire line of mid-range handsets. While the former comes with a price-tag of Rs. 25,990 ($400), the latter carries a sticker price of Rs. 18,990 ($280), although final retail prices are expected to be much lower. Both devices will be available from next month, but while HTC specified June 20th as the date of availability for the One X9, there’s apparently no specific ETA for the Desire 825 just yet. The Desire 825 will be available in Golden Graphite and Sprinkle White, while the One X9 will come in Topaz Gold and Carbon Gray.
Taking a look at the hardware specs of the two devices, the One X9 features a 5.5-inch 1080p display panel with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) SoC that comes with a 2.2 GHz 64-bit octa core CPU and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. The handset also comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded with a micro SD card of up to 2TB on capacity. The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a Sense UI overlay and has a 3,000mAh battery. The imaging duties are carried out by a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera, while connectivity options include 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS with GLONASS.
As for the Desire 825, the device features a 5.5-inch 720p display and is powered by the Snapdragon 400 SoC. The device comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, with support for micro SD cards of up to 2TB in capacity. Just like the One X9, this handset, too, runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a Sense UI overlay, but unlike its more expensive stable-mate, this one carries a smaller, 2,700 mAh battery. The rear-facing camera on the Desire 825 is a 13-megapixel BSI sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, while the front-facing selfie-cam happens to be a 5-megapixel unit with an f/2.8 aperture. The device comes with BoomSound speakers, Hi-Res Audio and Dolby certification, while connectivity options include 4G LTE and a microUSB port.
