Huawei has introduced quite a few devices this year, including the company’s P9 and P9 Plus flagships. Aside from those two smartphones, the company has also introduced two tablets, and two mid-range handsets, the Huawei P9 Lite and Honor 5C. That being said, Huawei’s subsidiary, Honor, is expected to announce the Honor V8 on May 10th, and the device has already been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC). Now, before the Honor V8, let’s take a look at the two devices Huawei introduced today, shall we.
The company has unveiled the Huawei G9 Lite smartphone and MediaPad M2 7.0 tablet in China. Both of these devices can be considered to be mid-range devices, with that in mind, let’s see what they have to offer. The Huawei G9 Lite sports a 5.2-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The device is fueled by the Kirin 650 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, the same one you’ll find in the Honor 5C. The phone sports a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also included in this package. The 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of this phone, and an 8-megapixel snapper is available up front. The G9 Lite comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with the Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 installed on top of it.
The Huawei MediaPad M2 7.0, on the other hand, is a smaller sibling to the already introduced MediaPad M2 10.1. This tablet comes with a 7-inch 1920 x 1200 panel with Huawei’s ClariVu 2.0 color enhancement technology. The device packs in 3GB of RAM and 16GB / 32GB of native storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This tablet is fueled by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Adreno 405 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel snapper (f/2.0 aperture) is available on the back of this tablet, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found on its front side. The 4,360mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is not removable. The MediaPad M2 7.0 will be available in both WiFi only and WiFi + LTE variants.
As far as pricing and availability are concerned, the Huawei G9 Lite comes in White, Gold and Black color variants, and it costs 1,699 Yuan ($261). The MediaPad M2 7.0 comes in Blue, White, Gold and Pink flavors, and is priced at 1,599 Yuan ($246) and 1,799 Yuan ($277) for 16GB and 32GB WiFi + LTE variants, respectively. We still don’t know how much will the WiFi only variant cost. The Huawei G9 Lite is already available for registrations, and the sales will commence on May 13th in China. We still don’t have any info regarding the MediaPad M2 7.0’s availability, unfortunately.
