Huawei's P9 Now Available from Giffgaff in the UK

When it comes to affordable smartphones for our friends across the pond in the UK, there are a number of choices that have recently launched in the past year or so. While the Moto G remains one of the most common and best choices out there in the UK, Huawei has steadily become another brand people should consider. The Honor brand has become readily available from networks like Three, offering some great value and now the Huawei P9 is available from Giffgaff. For those that haven’t heard of Giffgaff, it’s a low-cost network that runs on O2’s backbone and recently started selling smartphones themselves. The Huawei P9 was recently launched earlier this year, and our review went live not too long ago.

While many might view Huawei as a budget brand out of China, the P-Series represents their best efforts for the European and Western markets, and the P9 offers some great features. These include Leica optics and software from some great smartphone photography, as well as a decent 5.2-inch Full HD display, an amazingly-quick fingerprint sensor and a quality build and design. While the P9 has all the sort of specs and features that many will be looking for in a smartphone, those considering it should pay attention to the software that Huawei uses. Unlike the Nexus 6P, also made by Huawei, the P9 comes with Emotion UI on top of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, which is certainly a lot different from what most users will have become accustomed to.

Those looking into the P9 from Giffgaff can purchase it outright for just £369 or pay £17.06 a month however, this will include a £25 one-off upfront payment and culminate in £434.44 in total across 24 months. This is for an unlocked model, so if you don’t like Giffgaff’s service, you can put whatever SIM you want in this model. Right now it appears that only the “Titanium Grey” color option is available. Giffgaff charges this for the phone and then a separate fee for their service, but as Giffgaff is designed to be as affordable as possible, there’s a good chance that there’s a great deal for your needs.
