Some of you like to use your smartphone as you get it out of the box, while others tend to tinker with it. That’s the beauty of Android, it not only offers a solid experience out of the box, but it also lets you tinker with it as much as you want. Now, rooting and modding is one thing, we’re not here to talk about that, but about automation, which can make your usage of a smartphone a breeze and make you way more productive. You’ve probably already heard of apps like Tasker and IF (IFTTT), well, we’re here to talk about yet another automation app called MacroDroid.
MacroDroid is a very powerful task automation application which actually offers a really simple and intuitive UI, which will make the usage of this app more pleasant. Now, with MacroDroid, you can set up a number of triggers in order to make your device perform particular actions. For example, you can set it to turn on / off WiFi when you launch a particular app, or auto respond to a specific incoming SMS, etc. MacroDroid offers countless possibilities which you can take advantage of, and all you have to do is set up a ‘Macro’, or use the existing ones if you want, there are a number of templates available here out of the box. Now, setting up a new Macro, is not all that complicated. All you have to do is click ‘Add Macro’, and select a trigger from a list. After that you’ll be presented with a number of settings related to the trigger you chose (like Battery Level, for example). Applications like these are not all that easy to explain and may sound a bit cumbersome until you try them out, chances are you’ll get used to it quickly.
MacroDroid is available as a free app in the Google Play Store, but the developer is also offering a paid version of the app which won’t limit the number of Macros you can use. You’re limited to 5 macros in the free version of the app, and you’ll also face ads within the app. You’ll be able to use an unlimited number of macros if you pay for the ‘Pro’ version of this app, and you’ll also get an ad-free experience as well, of course.
