India is the second-largest smartphone market in the world, and also the the fastest growing one. A number of companies have started not only selling their devices in India in the last year or so, but also manufacture devices there as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. That being said, we’re seeing more and more India-based companies get in the smartphone business, CREO has introduced their first ever smartphone recently, the Mark 1, and now we have yet another company do the same, read on.
Smartron is an Indian startup, this company has recently announced that their first smartphone is coming, and it’s finally here, it has been announced earlier today during an event in India. The Smartron t.phone is a well-specced device, it features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The phone packs in 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core fuels this smartphone, along with the Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera (6P lens, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF) is placed on the back of this smartphone, and is flanked by the dual-LED flash. The 4-megapixel snapper (f/2.0 aperture) is available on the front side of this device, and a 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package. Speaking of the battery, you’ll also get Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging here, while there are two SIM card slots available here (dual SIM, micro + nano). The Smartron t.phone comes in Orange, Blue, Silver and Violet color options, and it is priced at Rs. 22,999 ($342) in India. The device is going to be available from Smartron tstore and Gadgets360 starting in early June. This might not be one of the most affordable devices in India, but considering its specifications, we can’t really say it’s expensive. It has Qualcomm’s flagship SoC from 2015, not to mention it’s equipped with 4GB of RAM and sports an AMOLED display. It is also worth mentioning that this phone is made out of metal, and sports a rather interesting design.
