Nubia, a sub-brand of Chinese phone maker ZTE, has launched a budget phone and is set to launch two more phones which will be part of its new Z11 brand. Like most upcoming smartphones, the new phones have conveniently made it to Weibo, the Chinese version of Facebook, and as per available leaks, they will cater to premium, mid-range, and budget phone buyers respectively. Named the Z11 Max, the Z11 and Z11 Mini which has already been officially announced, the three phones have been certified for sale by TENAA, China’s telecommunications agency, but it is the Z11 Max which should gather maximum interest.
Ni Fei, the Co-Founder and General Manager at Nubia, has posted a suggestive image of the premium Z11 Max on Weibo and has claimed that the phone will feature an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 83.27%, probably the highest among contemporary smartphones. A mere look at images of the Z11 Max suggests that Nubia has tried to keep the space between the phone’s edges and its display to a minimum and has used minimal bezels in the process. Given that the phone features a 6-inch display, the phone may not be as large as other phones with 6-inch displays like HP’s Elite X3 phablet or Sony’s just-launched Xperia XA Ultra phablet. However, this isn’t the first time that Nubia has flirted with large high-resolution screens. A couple of years ago, ZTE launched the Nubia X6 sporting a massive 6.44-inch Full HD display and ZTE also launched the Grand X Max+ last year with a 6-inch display as well as some tidy specifications like a 3,200 mAh battery, 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip and 16 GB of internal storage.
As far as specifications are concerned, even though the Nubia Z11 Max features the most powerful specifications among the three phones of the Z11 line, calling it a premium device wouldn’t be kind to the likes of LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 or HTC 10. Even though the Z11 Max offers a 6-inch display, the resolution stands at 1080p which is what you’ll find in most mid-range devices. While the phone offers impressive specifications like 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, a large 4,000 mAh battery, and a MicroSD card slot, it waters these down by including a less-powerful Snapdragon 652 processor and also running Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system at a time when the operating system is set to turn older by a couple of generations. However, given that ZTE, like other Chinese phone makers, offers its phones at highly competitive prices, you’ll find the phone quite handy if you aren’t much into HD gaming or extreme multi-tasking.
