It is OnePlus time again. As has been the case for the last couple of years, the leading up to the summer has been full of OnePlus news and the most recent of which has focused on the launch of their next-generation flagship handset, the OnePlus 3. In fact, the last 24 hours alone has seen a number of reports coming through including what is said to be the OnePlus 3 specs, as well as the actual confirmation from OnePlus that the launch of the OnePlus 3 will take place in virtual reality. In addition and similar to last year, OnePlus also confirmed they are giving away a number of free virtual reality headsets for those who want to take part in the action.
That said, OnePlus had not revealed the actual launch date for the OnePlus 3. Those who had ordered one of the limited Loop VR headsets will likely have noticed that shipping is not due to commence until June 6th. Which does firmly lead to the assumption that the launch event will not take place before that date. However, now it seems there is some more firmer information coming through on when the OnePlus 3 will officially be unveiled.
To cut to the chase, the latest information states that the OnePlus 3 will be unveiled on June 14. The information comes from someone who passed along a screenshot to Android Authority of a conversation claimed to be with a OnePlus representative. The conversation highlights that when very firmly asked when the OnePlus 3 will launch, the response states “the OnePlus 3 will be fully revealed on June 14th through our VR launch experience.” Although, for those that don’t have a VR headset, the comment goes on to explain that the event can also be watched without a headset. You can see a copy of the passed-along conversation below.
However, moving back to the specs which came through earlier today and by way of @evleaks, the information looked to confirm that the OnePlus 3 will come sporting a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Inside, the OnePlus 3 was said to come with 64GB internal storage, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, and equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera. One notable inclusion is that the @evleaks information also stated that the OnePlus 3 will come sporting NFC. As well as possibly running on Android N.
