Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Lands at AT&T for $169

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) isn’t exactly the most interesting device to land on AT&T in recent months. But it fills a gap that most carriers aim to fill. And that’s options available at every price point, so that there is something available for everyone. The Galaxy J3 (2016) is available today for $169 full retail price or you can pick it up on AT&T Next for $0 down and $5.67 per month for 30 months.

With this being a sub-$200 smartphone that is also carrier branded, the specs aren’t going to be all that spectacular, but we do have a decent spec sheet here. Inside, we have a 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor, along with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 16GB of internal storage, however there is a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of additional storage. Samsung has a 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter on the Galaxy J3 (2016). As for the display, it’s a 5-inch 720p sAMOLED display. Finally, the Galaxy J3 (2016) is powered by a 2600mAh removable battery.

On the software-front it’s running Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI overlay. There’s no support for Samsung Pay, unfortunately, there’s also no Android Pay due to the lack of NFC. One of the few boxes that the Galaxy J3 (2016) doesn’t check. Samsung is only offering up the Galaxy J3 (2016) on AT&T in white. It actually has a dual-tone front which is a bit of a unique look. The “chin” at the bottom is white, but the rest of the bezels are black.

Not everyone wants or needs the latest and greatest smartphone, like the Samsung Galaxy S7. And the Galaxy J3 (2016) is a great alternative to pick up from AT&T (it’s also available at Verizon, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile). It’ll do all of the usual tasks like checking your email, browsing the web, playing some games and so forth. It does have a fairly large battery, which is also removable and should last you all day long and then some – especially with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its Doze feature that extends standby time. You can pick up the Galaxy J3 (2016) today either online or in your local AT&T store.
