Everybody loves a deal, especially when it is on one of the hot new phones – the HTC 10 is $100 off if you buy it online at Verizon. HTC USA tweeted two hours ago about the online sale – but they cautioned not to “sleep on this one.” There was no mention of how long the promo will run, so if you are looking to pick up the HTC 10, we suggest you jump on it. Verizon is even waiving the $20 activation fee and is offering free shipping. You can also order it online and pick the device up at the store to get it within two hours. The regular price is $648, so you get it for a bargain at $548.
The new HTC 10 has been a long time coming. HTC started a metal casing revolution with the One M7 and continued it for two more years – however, what was once a fresh and welcomed idea turned into a stale idea that never changed. The new HTC 10 has a more chiseled look to the outside, and love it or hate it (as many do), it is a change from the past three years. Another area that HTC was stuck on is the display – they insisted on using an FHD resolution rather than jumping to QHD, where Samsung and LG have been for years. The final spot they took care of was the camera area. HTC had played around with 4MP UltraPixels, duo cameras and last year on the One M9 went with a more traditional sensor. With the HTC 10, they went back to UltraPixels (as have Samsung), but rather than trying to pawn off only 4MP, HTC upped it to a respectable 12MP and added OIS, laser autofocus, a dual-tone LED flash and a large aperture of f/1.8. The front-facing camera (FFC) is a 5MP but includes the f/1.8 aperture, wide-angle lens, OIS and even a screen flash to take selfies and conduct video chatting even in low-light.
The HTC 10 sports a 5.2-inch Super LCD5 QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and 565 pixels-per-inch (PPI). It packs the best processor currently on the market – the Snapdragon 820 quad-core with dual cores clocked at 1.6GHz and dual cores clocked at 2.15GHz. This processor is paired up with an Adreno 530 GPU, and it will handle the toughest graphics you can throw at it. The HTC 10 has 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of internal memory that is expandable to 2TB via a microSD card. A 3000mAh non-removable battery powers the HTC 10 and comes with Quick Charge 3.0. With the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the front, that second speaker was moved to the bottom of the device as a woofer and higher sounds come from the earpiece – to recognize this change, HTC renamed it to BoomSound Hi-Fi.
