Which self-respecting photographer doesn’t own a tripod for his or her DSLR camera? And who can honestly claim that smartphone cameras haven’t been tremendously improved in recent years and are definitely a viable alternative to actual cameras in right conditions? Well, then why not get a miniature tripod for your phone to take your pocket photography to the next level? That’s basically the line of thinking behind Pocket Tripod, a well, pocket tripod which recently hit Kickstarter and has already collected over $52,000 in pledges or 870% of its initial $6,000 goal with 40 campaign days left to go. Definitely not bad for a tiny plastic phone accessory.
The reason behind this almost instant success of the Pocket Tripod likely has something to do with the fact that the people behind it have already successfully completed a similar product which was also funded via Kickstarter. In 2013, Geometrical Inc. & Rambod Radmard came to the most popular crowdfunding platform on the Internet with the idea for a miniature iPhone-only tripod which folds into a credit card-sized piece of plastic and fits inside a wallet. The product ended up being pretty successful as it was shipped to over 2,500 backers worldwide, but unlike that one, the upcoming Pocket Tripod 2.0 will have an even wider appeal. That’s because it’ll support all kinds of phones regardless of their brand and size and will also work with devices wrapped in any kind of phone cases. This was accomplished by creating an accessory which has switchable size adapters. The early bird $15 pledge which guarantees you a Pocket Tripod 2.0 is unfortunately not available anymore due to popular demand, but you can still hit the Kickstarter link below and pledge $18 in order to get one in size and color of your choice.
The Pocket Tripod is expected to be delivered to its Kickstarter backers this October. Naturally, if you can’t or aren’t willing to wait that long, there are always alternatives on the market, one of them being the Kenu Stance tripod for Android phones. Combined with a device which boasts an excellent camera such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the Pocket Tripod will surely be a great tool to produce some fantastic photographs.
