10. Google Nexus 5X
Google has introduced the LG-made Nexus 5X in the US in September last year. The device is available in a number of markets these days, India included. This handset sports a 5.2-inch fullHD display, 2GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 808 SoC. The Nexus 5X has one of the better cameras out there, and you’re guaranteed to get the latest update directly from Google. The phone isn’t exactly as affordable as some people would like it to be in India, but it can be purchased for around Rs. 28,000 ($420) at the moment, it was quite a bit more expensive a couple of weeks ago.
9. OnePlus X
The OnePlus X is OnePlus’ mid-range smartphone. This device was announced last year, and it sports the sleek metal + glass look, and solid specs as well. The OnePlus X features a 5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 801 processor. The device is quite compact, and it ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, though the Android Marshmallow update is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
8. Motorola Moto X Style
Motorola Moto X Style isn’t exactly one of the newest devices out there, in fact, the company is expected to introduce its successor in 1-2 months, but the Moto X Style is still quite a compelling smartphone. This 5.7-inch phablet ships with 3GB of RAM, and also has really thin bezels all around. The phone comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, though it is upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
7. LG V10
The LG V10 isn’t LG’s flagship any longer, but it is still quite a compelling smartphone, and the LG G5 still isn’t available in India. The LG V10 sports a 5.7-inch QHD display, 4GB of RAM and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor, same as the LG G4 and Nexus 5X. This device sports a rather unique look, and has the secondary ‘ticker’ display above its main panel, not to mention it’s quite a sturdy phone.
6. Meizu M3 Note
The Meizu M3 Note is one of the newest Meizu-branded devices. This smartphone was announced in April, and the company has announced it in India not long ago as well. The M3 Note cost only Rs. 9,999 ($150) in India (even less in China), which makes it quite affordable, not to mention this is the 3GB RAM variant we’re talking about. This smartphone also sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and it is made out of metal, unlike its predecessors.
5. OnePlus 2
The OnePlus 2 is still the company’s flagship handset. This smartphone was introduced in July last year, and it has been quite popular ever since. The phone sports a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 16GB / 64GB of internal storage. The phone is still available in both variants in India, which gives you plenty to choose from, depending on how much money you’re willing to spend in order to buy this phone.
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 5
The Galaxy Note 5 is still Samsung’s flagship phablet. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones are the company’s most powerful units, but until Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 6, the Galaxy Note 5 is the way to go if you’re looking for a premium Galaxy-branded phablet. This device is made out of metal and glass, and it sports a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM, not to mention you also get the S Pen stylus.
3. Google Nexus 6P
The Nexus 5X might be a compelling smartphone, but if you’re looking for the Nexus flagship, the Nexus 6P is the way to go. This handset is made out of metal, and it sports a 5.7-inch QHD AMOLED display. The Nexus 6P packs in 3GB of RAM, and it offers the same camera sensor as the Nexus 5X, which makes its camera quite capable. This handset is also not that cheap in India, but it’s far cheaper than Samsung’s flagships, for example.
2. Xiaomi Mi 5
Xiaomi Mi 5 is the company’s newest flagship. This smartphone was introduced in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, and it is now available in select markets, including China and India. The device sports a 5.1-inch fullHD display, and it is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, one of the most powerful chips around. The Mi 5, unlike other Xiaomi-branded devices, sports a physical home button which doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are Samsung’s flagship smartphones for 2016. These two devices are definitely not cheap, but if you’re looking to get the latest and greatest Samsung has to offer, these are your options. The Galaxy S7 is a somewhat smaller device which sports a 5.2-inch display, while the Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch panel, not to mention its display is curved on both sides, unlike the one on the Galaxy S7.
