Verizon Wireless Offering Customers A Free LG G5

Earlier in the year, two South Korean Android flagship devices were announced effectively back to back. these being Samsung’s Galaxy S7 family and the LG G5. Both are based around the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset (aside from some Galaxy S7 models powered by Samsung’s own silicon) backed up by 4GB of RAM and built around a QHD display panel of at least 5.1-inch, although the two devices are as different as they are similar. Even before the announcement, Samsung’s marketing vehicle powered up and the Galaxy S7 range has captured the hearts and minds of consumers. Unfortunately, despite good reviews the LG G5 has not had the same impact. The device is a capable smartphone and has some great features, such as the ability to add in additional hardware modules and an unusual dual camera set up, but the G5 has failed to take off as Samsung’s latest have in the first quarter, at least.

However, it appears that the American carriers and LG aren’t giving up without a fight. We’ve news today that Verizon Wireless, America’s largest carrier, is offering the LG G5 on a “BOGO” offer. That is, buy one and get one. The deal is reasonably straightforward: customers buying one LG G5 over the equipment installation price of $624, spread over two years at $26 a month, will receive a prepaid VISA gift card to the value of $624. Verizon warns that there may be taxes to pay on retail prices and the line must remain active for at least six months after activation, but for customers wanting two flagship devices, this is a tempting deal. Verizon have made the deal available for both new and existing customers and if you want to take advantage of this, you’ll need to use the promotional code: “G5-APRILPROMO” (not a mistype, it really does refer to April and not May). It’ll take eight to ten weeks for the prepaid VISA card to arrive. In what appears to be an unusual move, the offer closes tomorrow (Wednesday, 11 May 2016) but customers who have already purchased the LG G5 in the last two weeks also qualify… so for those Verizon Wireless customers who have bought the G5 and after demonstrating it to loved ones, you could buy them one too free of charge.
