There are a lot of pretty interesting smartphones coming out of China, and the Leagoo Shark 1 is one of those smartphones. It boasts a 6-inch 1920×1080 resolution display and is powered by MediaTek’s octa-core 1.3GHz processor which is paired with 3GB of RAM. Leagoo has a 6300mAh battery powering this beast, and as we found out in our review, it is definitely enough juice to get you through a full day or more. Coming in at under $200 USD, this is definitely a great smartphone to take a look at.
We have Android 5.1 Lollipop on the Shark 1 along with the Leagoo OS on top. Their skin is somewhat light. It doesn’t affect the fluidity of the device, nor the performance. On top of that, a lot of the AOSP features are still present in the Shark 1. For the most part, we just have a bunch of added features and a fresh color palette which is nice and vibrant here on the Shark 1. It’s quite refreshing to say the least. Leagoo has packed the Shark 1 with loads of different gestures. Including the usual double tap to wake, Smart Stay to keep the phone on when you’re still looking at the display, and even gestures that work with the phone’s screen off, to jump into a specific app. Making things pretty easy. Especially for jumping straight into the camera.
The fingerprint sensor here on the Shark 1 is lacking, though. First of all, this is running Android 5.1 Lollipop, so there’s not much in terms of native support for the Fingerprint API that Google debuted in Marshmallow. The sensor is also pretty slow, but somehow quite accurate. As long as you don’t move your finger too quickly.
We’ve already done a pretty lengthy written review of the Shark 1. Now we’ve put together a video review of the device, and it comes in at just over 6 minutes long, which you’ll find down below. If you’re interested in picking up the Leagoo Shark 1, you can do so by hitting the button below as well. It is a great, but large, device to have in your pocket.
