360-degree content creation is becoming more and more available to consumers, and although options like Facebook’s recently announced hardware can be built by anyone with the desire to do so, it also costs upwards of $30,000 for the parts and technology, according to the schematics that Facebook made available to the public when it announced the camera during its developer conference. For those looking to create 360-degree content at a much lower price, there’s the VUZE 3D 360-degree VR Camera which just opened up for pre-orders this morning at a more affordable cost of $799, offering up an easy-to-use piece of hardware that just about anyone can get into.
The VUZE 3D 360-degree VR Camera is a point-and-shoot device with one-button stitching technology, and HumanEyes Technologies, the company behind the device, states that processing of the content happens in real-time, meaning if you have five minutes of video that has been captured with the camera then processing time will take five minutes. The Camera comes in multiple colors including Yellow, Red, Black, and Blue, and the pre-order bundle at the $799 cost comes with a free tripod that doubles as a selfie stick, a free Homido VR headset, a carrying case, a newly designed handle for changing up the way you hold the camera, and the free software studio to process any creations.
The VUZE Camera is comprised of 8 Full HD cameras that are capable of producing 360-degree content at 4K resolution. HumanEyes states that each camera can capture 120-degree horizontal field of view and 180-degree vertical field of view, which together is what makes the 4K resolution possible. Although the camera is designed to generate 3D content, it’s capable of creating 2D content as well. A companion app that’s available on both Android and iOS allows the user to easily control the camera and begin recording as well as stop it when finished, and once the videos need to be processed, the software studio is available for both PC and Mac. The camera is able to produce up to one hour of video capture on a single charge of the battery, and it supports microSD card storage to hold any content that’s recorded. At the moment, there is no exact release date for the VUZE Camera, but the estimated shipping time for the pre-orders is listed as October of this year, and pre-orders can be placed at the VUZE website.
