Google’s popular navigation app Waze is well-liked for many reasons like the ability to alert drivers to accident hotspots, and another one of those just might be the option to use celebrity voices for the voice-guided navigation instructions. Back at the end of February Waze added a voice option for Morgan Freeman, and in the Fall of last year, they added the ability to use C-3PO’s voice for navigation, likely in celebration of the new Star Wars film that was set to release the following month. Waze also recently added Shaq’s voice as an option just a few weeks back. Today, Waze has announced that they’re adding a new celebrity voice into the mix as drivers can now have the navigation speak to them in the voice of T-Pain.
Waze states that the new T-Pain voice will be available to users from today, May 4th, but also that it is available only for a limited time. They do not however, mention how long T-Pain’s voice will be accessible to Waze users as an option for the navigation voices. Accessing the different voice options is rather simple if this is an element of the app you have never messed with before. All users have to do is go into the app, head to the app’s settings menu, then to sound, and finally tap on voice language to bring up the list of currently available results.
If special navigation voices aren’t your cup of tea, Waze has plenty of other useful features to look forward to that make it a strong contender for the app of choice in directions. It’s primarily driven by the community of users which means that most of the data or information you get on navigation routes is compiled from the people around you locally that are also driving those routes. It also has features like the speed limit alerts that were just recently added to the U.S. version of the app late last month, which as the feature name suggests, will display an alert to users on screen when they have exceeded the speed limit in a particular area. This alone can be handy if you frequent areas where the speed limit may be less visibly posted.
