WordPress Users Get New Visual Editor With 5.4 Beta

If you run a website or a blog that’s built on WordPress for the platform, then you will almost certainly have a need for the app at some point even if it’s only for very minor edits or changes that you need to make once in a while. The stable version of the app is currently sitting at 5.3 which now features a material design style interface, but the beta version of the app has just been updated to version 5.4 which brings in a brand-new visual editor. Along with the new visual editor, there are also new editor tools that users can take advantage of as well to make editing any existing posts that much simpler than they were before.

When it comes to the editor tools within the 5.4 beta, users now have access to things like lists, both bulleted and ordered, and there’s a new HTML toggle view option that sits at the right most part of the toolbar down at the bottom of the screen allowing users to switch over to HTML view with just a tap. Even if the HTML view toggle isn’t used very much, having it more readily accessible is likely to be a small bonus for those that wanted the option.

Alongside the new editor tools and the new visual editor that’s in place, changing your gravatar (which is essentially your profile picture) can be done by tapping on your profile picture from the Me screen, allowing you to update it at any point if you need or simply desire to swap it out for something new. There are also some minor fixes in the reader that users can look out for which should just improve the overall performance and user experience although there are no specifics as to what those fixes are. There is also a new smart lock sign-in feature that’s been implemented in this version of the beta app which allows username and passwords to be prefilled. Since this is a beta version of the app, these features are obviously not yet available in the regular app, and there’s unfortunately no details on when they will make the jump from beta to the stable version that’s in the Play Store. If you’re interested in getting a hold of these new features via the beta version, you can grab the apk download from the link below.
