Xioami tends to announce quite a few smartphones every year, and they’ve started this year with a bang as well. The company has already introduced their Mi 5 flagship, and the mid-range Redmi 3 Pro and Redmi Note 3 devices. That being said, the company will introduce their new Xiaomi Max phablet on May 10th, as they’ve already confirmed recently, and alongside it the company will introduce the MIUI 8 OS as well. Chances are this will be a mid-range phablet, and not the Mi Note (Pro) successor, at least according to most rumors. Anyhow, some new info surfaced, so let’s see what’s it all about, shall we.
Several Xiaomi Max rumors and leaks surfaced thus far, and we’ve seen some conflicting info. The initial rumors claimed this handset will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, while the latest rumors reported the Snapdragon 650 or Xiaomi’s rumored ‘Rifle’ SoC might fuel it. Well, a new benchmark listing surfaced, and if GFXBench is to be believed, the device might arrive in two variants. The Snapdragon 650-powered Xiaomi Max with 2GB of RAM surfaced on GFXBench about a week ago, and now we have that very same handset, but it packs in 3GB of RAM. Both devices will ship with 16GB of internal storage, which is interested, we’d assume that the 3GB RAM variant will come with 32GB of storage, but it seems like that won’t be the case. The device will ship with a 6.4-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Xiaomi Max, while you’ll be able to find the company’s MIUI 8 OS installed on top of it. The 16-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of the Xiaomi Max, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be available up front.
There you have it, the Xiaomi Max will almost certainly going to be a mid-range offering, most rumors indicate that, and it seems like these GFXBench listings are spot on. This means that the company plans to introduce the Mi Note 2 phablet in the second half of this year, and some rumors indicated lately.
