Xiaomi has announced a bevy of smartphones already this year. The company’s Mi 5, Mi Max and Redmi Note 3 devices have all been announced in 2016, and the company has also released their first ever drone recently, the Mi Drone. This drone is available in two variants, and it is quite affordable compared to the competition. That being said, Xiaomi has hosted a Q&A session after the Mi Drone announcement in China, and it seems like the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, shared some interesting details with the public while he was answering questions, read on.
The Xiaomi MI Band 2 has been leaking for a long time now, and the company’s CEO has even shown off the device itself via Weibo (Chinese social network), and also confirmed that it will be announced in early June. That’s not all though, Hugo Barra wore that very same device while he was promoting the Mi Box at Google I/O, as you can see in our very own video presentation. Now, as already mentioned, Lei Jun shared some interesting details during the Q&A session, he basically confirmed that the Mi Band 2 will be released on June 2nd. On top of that, he also said that the device will go on sale on June 7th.
The Mi Band 2, unlike its predecessors, will feature a display, as it was revealed by the company’s CEO. The first-gen Mi Band did not sport a display nor a heart rate sensor, while the Mi Band 1S looked identical to the first-gen Mi Band, but it sported a heart rate sensor. Well, the Mi Band 2 will not only sport such a sensor on the back, but will also sport a display which will share all sorts of fitness info with you, and it is quite possible that it will be able to display some notifications as well. We don’t really have all that many details regarding Mi Band 2’s functions at the moment, but we do know that the device will once again ship with a silicone band, and chances are you’ll be able to easily replace it, like it was the case with the previous Mi Band models. That is more or less it, stay tuned for more information, the launch event is about a week away at this point.
UPDATE: It seems like the source altered their information a bit, it is possible that the device is both launching and becoming available on June 7th, instead of launching on June 2nd and becoming available 5 days after that.
