ZTE has released a number of ‘Axon’ devices last year. This China-based company introduced the Axon, Axon Pro, Axon Elite, Axon Mini, Axon Max and even the Axon Watch. That being said, the company is expected to release a new Axon-branded device soon, and the company’s CEO has already teased the arrival of this smartphone quite recently. Interesting enough, the company’s upcoming flagship has been certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) at the end of last month, which more or less revealed both its design and specifications.
Keeping all that in mind, ZTE has started sending out invites for the announcement of this device. Pretty much everyone expected this device to be called the ZTE Axon 2, but it seems like the company plans to use the ‘Axon 7’ naming for some reason, at least according to the invite. Anyhow, the event will be held on May 26th in China, and ZTE has included a ‘listening to the heart of power’ caption along with this invite. We don’t really know what this means just yet, but it could have something to do with the phone’s audio output.
Now, we expect this device to sport a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. According to TENAA, the device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 20-megapixel snapper will be placed on the back of the Axon 7, and an 8-megapixel shooter will be available up front. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Axon 7, and you’ll find ZTE’s custom UI on top of it. The 3,140mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and it will not be removable it seems. The device will be available in a Gold color variant only, while it will measure 154 x 77 x 9.8mm, and weight 175 grams. The phone will be made out of metal, and it will sport a fingerprint scanner on its back side. It is also worth mentioning that this device will resemble its predecessors to some extent, check out the image above this article (courtesy of TENAA) in order to check out its design.
