Amazon has now listed an aluminum-clad version of the Fire HD 10 tablet on its website. The device comes in a metallic silver finish and costs exactly the same as the plastic version that was up for sale thus far. That means the standard-issue metallic 16 GB model now replaces its plastic predecessor at the same exact price-point of $229.99, but those wishing for a bit more storage space on their slate can also opt for the all-new 64 GB model that has now been introduced by the online retailer. It has been priced at a $60 premium to the 16 GB model, so buyers will have to shell out $289.99 to get their hands on that particular version.
Both versions, however, come with micro SD card slots that allow storage to be increased by up to 128GB. The two models are otherwise identical, meaning, the only difference between them lies in the storage department. Even though Amazon made the transition from plastic to metal as its build material of choice for the Fire HD 10, the internals of the device were left untouched, which may be a bit disappointing for many who might have been hoping for a more comprehensive revamp. Sadly though, the latest overhaul only extends to the external casing, so while the look and feel of the device is expected to get a big boost from the aluminum chassis, the internals on the metallic variants remain identical to that of their plastic predecessor.
That means the Fire HD 10 still sports the same 10.1-inch display panel with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and is still powered by the same quad-core processor that’s clocked at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. The rest of the hardware remains identical too, including the same 1 GB of RAM, the same 5-megapixel primary shooter and the same battery that promises up to 8-hours of use. Additionally, the device also runs Fire OS 5, which is a forked version of Android. While all of that may not necessarily add up to an extraordinary device, the fact is, for the price its asking, it’s hard to fault the Amazon Fire HD 10, which should now look and feel better than it has ever done before.
