Android is, and has always been, one of the more approachable mobile platforms to start developing for, but in recent years it’s become even easier. Google offers the Android Studio IDE for free, it gives developers a wealth of information online for free and now they’ve partnered with Udacity on an affordable course to help people get started. No matter their previous experience or background, this new course – developed by both Google and Udacity – will give people the opportunity to learn how to program for Android, directly from Google employees and engineers.
As the title suggests, this is a “nanodegree”, a small yet focused course that aims to educate users in the skills and knowledge they need to get a job in that particular field. Users that complete one of these nanodegrees in 12 months or less will get 50% of their tuition fee refunded, too. Speaking of which, this new course costs $199 per month and will feature course content around the basics that make up Android including Java basics, using SQLite, including creating a working app and planning for a viable project beyond the code itself.
Google and Udacity have worked on the Android Basics Nanodegree together, and Google is chipping in a little more on top, too. The first 50 students to complete this course will get a free scholarship from Google for Udacity’s Android Developer Nanodegree course which is one of their Nanodegree Plus courses which guarantees a job at the end of it. What’s encouraging about this course is that not only can those interested in creating an app or developing for Android learn how to get started and gain the knowledge to do just but also the skills to make money out of it. More than just the code needed to make an app, this course from Udacity will give users the ability to plan a project and execute it well. It’s a great idea for younger people as well as those looking to move onto something new, Android developers are in hot demand all over the world, and you can practically work from anywhere, and the $200 a month fee could be viewed as a smart investment.
