Samsung is one of the largest tech companies in the world. This company is well-known not only for their smartphones, but also for their TVs, microwaves, fitness bands, smartwatches, etc. Samsung dabbles in pretty much everything tech-related, tablets included. This company has introduced a number of tablets thus far, and the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 are still Samsung’s flagship tablet offerings. These two devices were announced back in July last year, and the company is expected to release their successors soon enough.
That being said, the Galaxy Tab S3 8.0 has been certified by the FCC back in March, and that very same device also popped up on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) last month. Based on the info provided by TENAA (both specs and images), the Galaxy Tab S3 8.0 will resemble its predecessors quite a bit. It seems like Samsung is planning to make this device an iterative upgrade over the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, but we’ll see. Having that in mind, new Galaxy Tab S3 renders have surfaced online, courtesy of @evleask aka Evan Blass. The source doesn’t really specify if this is the Galaxy Tab S3 8.0 or 9.7, but the two devices will be basically identical in terms of the design, except for their size, of course. Anyhow, if you take at the provided image, you’ll basically get to see three Galaxy Tab S3 renders put into a single image, and you’ll probably also notice that the back button is oddly positioned here. The back button should be proportional to the overview (multitasking) button, and it’s instead too close to the physical home key. We presume this is some sort of an image editing fail or something of the sort, we doubt Samsung would opt to do something like this, besides, the image on TENAA shows off a rather regular looking tablet with the properly positioned buttons. Aside for the back button, this is the very same device that was certified by TENAA last month, though you get to see it in two color options here.
Based on TENAA’s info, the Galaxy Tab S3 8.0 will sport an 8-inch 2048 x 1536 AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 64-bit octa-core processor will probably fuel this tablet, and a 4,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The 8-megapixel snapper will be available on the back of the Galaxy Tab S3 8.0, and a 2-megapixel camera will be located up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will ship out of the box here, with Samsung’s custom UI, of course. The device will measure 198.6 x 134.8 x 5.6mm, while it will weigh 272 grams.
