Google Photos is already a hugely beneficial application to have for storing all of your most memorable moments, whether in picture or video form, and Google seems intent on making it as functional as possible. As part of a recent update to the application, Google Photos now supports a slideshow feature for albums, allowing you to set up an album for viewing with just a quick few taps. This is made especially useful if you’re someone who is constantly taking pictures and recording video to share with others, and if there’s more than one person who you want to share the experiences with, you can simply cast the Google Photos app up to a TV or monitor so long as the Chromecast is plugged into it.
The update for the app should already be live in the Play Store, so if you have Google Photos installed you can check the my apps section to see if the update is available for you, or you could install it if you haven’t already. While having the slideshows feature in the app is useful, Google is making it so you can also setup slideshows from the desktop version of Photos too, this way if you’re viewing pictures on the computer instead of your mobile device, you still have access to an easier way of sharing an album with others.
With slideshows in place, users will no longer have to swipe, tap, or click through each picture or video that they want to share. It is worth noting that while this make it easier to share an entire album with other people, the functionality does not take into account things like duplicate photo or video entries, so there may still be some setup that has to be done on the user side of things to make sure that the slideshow is just the way you want it to be. If photo duplicates aren’t a huge issue for you, then things will be as simple as opening photos and tapping on the album you want to show off, then hitting the button for the overflow menu where the slideshows feature is listed.
