The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro – model number “SM-A9100” – was announced and released in China earlier in March as a more powerful alternative to the Samsung Galaxy A9, which was introduced in December 2015. However, recent events suggest that the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro will not be an exclusive device aimed solely at the Chinese market. The variant planned for an International release is believed to carry model number “SM-A910F”, and was recently spotted in the FCC database signaling an eventual release in the Western hemisphere.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro, model number “SM-A910F” was certified by Bluetooth SIG not long ago, and now it appears that the same device was also approved by the FCC State-side. Although the FCC filing did not reveal much in regards to the smartphone’s specifications or availability details, the documents reconfirm that the handset will rely on a very generous 5,000 mAh battery. In any case, the smartphone’s hardware components should be nearly identical to the Chinese variant’s, so the highlight of the story at hand revolves more around the fact that, because the “SM-A910F” variant cleared the FCC, Samsung is likely trying to push the Galaxy A9 Pro on the International market fairly soon. Exactly when it will happen remains unknown, but it should be mentioned that the dual-SIM variant identified by model number “SM-A910F/DS” received the same treatment from the FCC, signaling what could be an imminent release.
Outside the realm of speculations, the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro in China holds no mysteries and as far as the hardware is concerned, the terminal is equipped with a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Inside beats the heart of a Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 octa-core chipset with four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and an additional quad-core CPU clocked at frequencies of up to 1.2 GHz per core, an Adreno 510 graphics chip and a whopping 4 GB of RAM. Users have 32 GB of internal storage to rely on, and can expand the storage through a microSD card slot by up to an additional 256 GB. The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro also takes advantage of a fingerprint scanner embedded in the Home button, it has a 16-megapixel main camera coupled with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, and runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.
