Today at Tech World 2016 Lenovo finally unveiled their highly anticipated Tango smartphone, now officially known as the PHAB2 Pro, and while the PHAB2 Pro might be the star of the event, it is far from being the only device worth mentioning, as Lenovo is officially announcing two more devices in the PHAB2 lineup, including the PHAB2 and the PHAB2 Plus, both of which will be launching in September globally alongside the PHAB2 Pro later this year. With the PHAB2 and the PHAB2 Plus on board to round out the trio of devices, Lenovo is effectively casting a wide net to capture different segments of the market.
Starting with the Lenovo PHAB2, the device comes equipped with a 6.4-inch HD IPS display, making it the same size as the PHAB2 Pro albeit with a lower quality resolution. Lenovo is touting this device as an enhanced entertainment smartphone, and while it may not be powered by Tango, it does still have some Augmented Reality elements within the camera for some unique special effects that can be added to photos. The PHAB2 comes powered by a MediaTek quad-core MTK 8735 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with support for expandable storage up to 128GB via the microSD card slot. It comes running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and for the cameras it features a 13MP Fast-Focus camera with phase detection autofocus, while on the front it features a 5MP camera with an 85-degree wide angle lens. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n, and it stays powered on with a 4,050 mAh battery on the inside that boasts up to 32 hours of talk time and up to 14 days of standby time. The Lenovo PHAB2 will come in two available colors of Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey, and it will retail for $199.
When it comes to the PHAB2 Plus, the phone comes equipped with the same size display as the other two phones at 6.4-inches, but it bumps things up to a Full-HD screen from the HD resolution found on the PHAB2. The screen is made from the same 2.5D curved glass as the PHAB2 Pro, and although it does not carry the same unibody design, the body of the phone is made from the same Aluminum Alloy. The phone also comes running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and it’s also powered by a MediaTek quad-core processor just like the regular PHAB2, however, it uses the more powerful MTK 8783 chip. The processor gets paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage space, and it supports expandable storage as well up to 128GB. The battery on the PHAB2 Plus is also 4,050 mAh, boasting 23 hours of talk time and over 17 days of standby time. It will come with same size sensor as the PHAB2 for the rear camera, coming in at 13MP, but there are some notable differences. The rear camera on the PHAB2 Plus will be a dual camera setup, with a Milbeaut ISP and an F2.0 aperture 1.34 big pixel and laser focus and phase detection autofocus. On the front, the PHAB2 Plus features 8MP fixed-focus camera with an F2.2 aperture. The PHAB2 Plus will come in two colors as well which include Champagne Gold and Gunmetal Grey, and it will be available globally alongside the other two phones, priced at $299. Beyond the specific features and specs unique to each device individually, all three PHAB2 devices will feature Dolby Atmos audio for a more immersive sound quality, and Dolby Audio 5.1 Capture for 360-degree sound for video recordings. All three devices will also come with integrated 360-voice for clear conversations thanks to an advance tripe array microphone and active noise-cancellation.
