LG G5 Scores 86 In DxOMark's Camera Test, Less Than HTC 10

The LG G5 had been introduced back in February during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, along with Samsung’s Galaxy S7 flagships, and the Xiaomi Mi 5. This smartphone has been available on the market for quite some time now, it is available for purchase in quite a few regions. LG took a somewhat different approach this time around, the LG G5 is a semi-modular smartphone which is made out of metal, and it is quite different than its predecessors, at least as far as build goes.

That being said, the LG G5 comes with two rear-facing camera sensors, 16 and 8-megapixel ones. These two sensors have f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture, respectively, while OIS and Laser Autofocus are also included here. Now, we’ve reviewed the LG G5 quite some time ago, and it turns out its camera is really good, which was to be expected. Interesting enough, this handset was not tested by DxOMark since it launched, at least until now. DxOMark finally managed to get their hands on LG’s flagship, and have rated LG’s flagship really high actually. The LG G5 scored 86 in DxOMark’s test, which means that only the HTC 10, Galaxy S7 (Edge), Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and Sony Xperia Z5 are ranked higher than the LG G5, which makes it 5th best camera smartphone according to DxOMark. The LG G5 did really great in DxOMark’s test, though it did have some issues with high-contrast scenery it seems, which is one of the main reasons DxOMark did not give it a higher score. The device did great both indoors and outdoors, while it did really well in low light as well, though it did have some issues in low light if the hand is not totally still. DxOMark also mentioned that the device does great in video, as long as it’s being recorded outdoors, the phone struggles indoors though, it overexposes, loses detail and it is quite inconsistent, says DxOMark. The LG G5 scored 86 overall, 88 in the still image department, and 82 when it comes to video.

The LG G5 is one of the most powerful devices out there, the phone comes with a 5.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor fuels this device, and a 2,800mAh battery is also a part of this package, and it is removable. In addition to the two aforementioned camera sensors, the LG G5 also comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the LG G5, and on top of it, you’ll find LG’s custom UI, LG Optimus UX 5.0.
