Throughout the years, numerous smartphone manufacturers took pride in the audio quality delivered by their flagship devices, with companies like HTC promoting front-facing / stereo speakers for a much-improved listening experience. Nevertheless and despite these efforts, smartphone speakers are not the ideal setup – or powerful enough – for listening music out in the open, and this is the reason why external Bluetooth speakers have become fairly popular. They are relatively small and can be carried around without much effort, and they make for great alternatives to on-board speakers. That said, today LG Electronics lifted the veil off its latest creation called the LG Portable Speaker art series, designed in collaboration with graffiti artist JonOne.
The LG Portable Speaker art series was announced today at La Place Hip Hop Cultural Center in Les Halles, France, and comes in three designs “inspired by art, culture and city life”. The designs were created by graffiti artist JonOne, who enjoys a lot of popularity around the world, especially in France where he was awarded the “Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur” by the government for his achievements and artistic vision. In the official press release, JonOne reveals that he has “worked closely with LG at every stage of the design process” adding that LG’s Portable Speaker art series “will inspire consumers to embrace their passions”. They sure look colorful and vibrant, but beauty can be skin-deep so what about the hardware? Well, the LG Portable Speaker art series sports two internal speakers which can be used as true “left” and “right” stereo channels through Dual Play. The speakers can also be paired with up to two devices via Bluetooth, giving multiple users access to playback and volume controls, making the LG Portable Speaker art series an interesting party piece.
Unfortunately, this is all the hardware information revealed by the press release, but the good news is that more details will be uncovered soon. The LG Portable Speaker art series will be launched in France and other (unspecified) countries in Europe starting this month, but as yet there’s no additional information regarding pricing and availability outside of Europe. Until the product hits the shelves, you can take a closer look at the overall design in the promotional video below.
