Meizu Plans To Launch A New Device In July, Is It The MX6?

Meizu has been all over the news lately, and not exactly for a good reason. The company is being sued by Qualcomm because of patent infringement. It seems like Meizu infringed on Qualcomm’s 3G and 4G patents in their MediaTek-powered devices, and Qualcomm is now demanding 520 million Yuan ($78 million) from Meizu. Qualcomm is ready to take Meizu to court, while Meizu is looking to settle this as soon as possible and move on with it. If you’d like to read more about it, take a look at the official statement from Meizu’s VP, Li Nan. That being said, Meizu’s MX6 handset has been leaking out quite frequently in the last couple of weeks, and it seems like Meizu is finally ready to announce it, read on.

This China-based company already introduced the Meizu PRO 6 flagship, the phone arrived back in April, and their MX6 handset is about to launch next month it seems. According to our source at the company, Meizu is planning to launch a new handset in July, though we still didn’t get a confirmation as to what handset can we expect. Well, the Meizu MX6 seems like a logical choice here, its predecessor was introduced back in July last year, so it seems like a perfect fit. It is, however, possible that Meizu plans to roll out their smartphone with the curved display on both sides, just like the Galaxy S7 Edge and Vivo XPlay 5. We have seen a number of leaked images of that smartphone, and chances are Meizu will introduce it before the end of this year, but we’re still not sure when. If we had to guess, however, we’d say that the Meizu MX6 will arrive in July, and that the smartphone with the ‘Dual Edge’ display will launch later this year as Meizu’s new flagship.

Now, according to the latest specification rumors, the Meizu MX6 will ship with a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. MediaTek’s Helio X20 or Helio X25 64-bit deca-core SoC is expected to fuel this smartphone, and the phone is quite probably going to be made out of metal. The 20.7-megapixel camera will be placed on the back of the Meizu MX6, and an 8-megapixel shooter will be placed on its front side. The physical mBack physical home button will be included below the display, and it will not only serve as a physical home button, but also as a capacitive back key.
